Fall In etc etc

OK, so yeah here are some things i neglected to post. There are a lot of other things as well some of which can be seen in the Fall In pics but they are complete. Currently my focus is on painting a wall and getting Holiday Village rolling. Which brings me to pics from Fall In. GPT and I had an AK47 rematch of his Hereditary Benevolent Dictatorship -vs- my Warlord Uprising Army. Next are a couple from the Star Grunt game i put on. Which was mysteriously canceled but some unknown when we were scheduled on a table Pete BCC Panzilli or whatever you spell its crew was putting on a mega game and wanted to set up early. hmmmm... Never the less the game went on and fun was had by all. ------------------ Something has crashed near some poppy fields in South Western Orangistan near the border -w- Iranistan. The Mujhaden that control the area are not happy one bit. They've been having enough trouble with Iranistanian bandits crossing the border. The last thing they need or want are the Red Skull and other ODESSA nazis which have taken up residence in the lawless hills coming down to loot the wreckage. "Special Requirements :Mature and have at least read the SG2 rules which are a free download from http://www.groundzerogames.net/ " Here the Mujhaden have stumbled upon a Hitler Clone in the wreckage. End of turn 2 Iranistan truck bomb explodes releasing clouds of low hanging mustard gas. -------- BONUS some pics of my Warlord Uprising Army.

Ariana and the sisterhood

Here we have Ariana and the sisterhood allies to the Red Skull. I painted just enough so in AK47 terms you have a General Stand -w- Bodyguard -and- enough foot troops for a Professional Unit with the requisite 4 RPGs. Sorry for the bad pics as usual.
-------------------
First up Arianna and her staff
She is an Old Glory 15mm superhero and they are Peter Pig They were painted using a red wash over bare metal for the base coat. Next 3 Rebel Minis and a Martin Metals Civilians/staff from Rebel Minis and a token male Liaison from GZG the red dress is also the red wash over bare metal. Some GZG Ladies PeterPig female Hardened Milita more Peter Pig As an added bonus some Rebel Mini scourge painted -w- the red wash over bare metal.

HiSTORiCON 2009 Red Skull -vs- the Haunted Tank

here are some shots in order from the game we ran at Historicon 2009 the RED SKuLL -vs- The Haunted Tank.
a write up is forthcoming... stay tuned

-Late 1944 NW of Bavarian redoubt
The Americans are closing in on the Red Skull. They have already captured the giant robot factory as well as the science team responsible. Therefore the American Objectives are to Destroy the Giant Robot and kill the Red Skull. The Red Skull wants to activate the Giant Robot, exit it off his board edge and kill allies. Soviets have ventured into the American Zone covertly to steal the Giant Robot and exit it off their board edge. They know that the Americans probably won’t shoot at them if they don’t shoot first. They also know that there has been ufo activity in the area and are on the lookout for any Alien captives or bodies. The Grey Aliens want to capture any/all Human command squad members. There are also Heer that begin the game guarding the Giant Robot and Industrial Zone. more later

Red Skull

preparing for our Historicon Game "The Red Skull -VS- The Haunted Tank" in addition to finishing the varied camo schemes on some Assault Rifle and Panzer Faust wielding FOW minis that got shelved in varying stages of paint, i'm creating a Red Skull. Actually 2 Red Skulls. This is my first attempt at skulpting anything so small. My attempts at skulpting 28mm were failures so I expect the worst. I was pretty happy -w- these until it came to putting the heads that were made to "the same size" as FOW germans on OG Command Decision bodies.
Meh... they'll do.

Hammer's Slammers etc etc++

Last update for a little, got more painted, but will drop that other shoe when the time is ripe. This time we have everything i've painted for my Hammer's Slammers unit so far, still have a plat of blowers and combat cars as well as a dozen GZG HS on skimmers to do. First - visors up. as you can see I changed basing between the first and second batches. I was doing 15mmx15mm squares, and now i'm doing #10 washers. Also changed basing material and colors somewhat. The #10 ones are a lighter uniform and armor, and use this water base wood putty elmers makes. the squares are darker and use sand for the flocking. In these pictures I like the older (square base) uniform scheme better, but in person the #10 uniforms look better to me. Jury is still out on the flock. The elmers dried up some, so I had to reconstitute it an it became a little more smooth than it used to be. ..and Visors Down ok so here are the auxillery troops, REMFs if you will, sans clamshell and helmet. They will also see duty as Non HammerSlammers REMFs as well. First we have the GZG cap troopers. followed by FOW German bailed tank crews and a couple old RAFM guys i got in a trade. Really like the RAFM guys for supply SGTs next should be the rebel mini earth force marines and QRF alpha and bravo squads...and at some point my collection of 15mm zombies.

QC PLO and Various "east Germans"

What more pictures??? yea well there are at least 2 more updates after this Hammer's Slammers, Rebel mini earth force marines and QRF SCI FI alpha and bravo teams...
Here we have the low tech element to the Islamic Republic Forces.
First up Quality Castings PLO Followed by QC, Irregular and some other mfg ""modern" "soviets"" or as i like to call them East Germans. They fit well -w- the GZG IF due to the elongated helmet, and doubly so because the QC ones are the same figures as the PLO except with different heads. I got all of the "modern soviets" at one of the HGMSE con fleamarkets. when i started deflashing them i got disgusted at the mostly poor quality and set them aside a few times. They are a prime example of minimalist painting,
1. prime in uniform color - grey
2. flesh - moccasin brown and flesh
3. helmets boots and "wood" - moccasin brown
4. web gear -Basil
5. weapon metal -black.

wash with my unpatented slurry of clear accrylic floor polish, black india ink, earth brown acrylic paint, and water.
tah dah.
problem is I still have as many more to paint, mostly support weapons for the "east Germans" oh and i did paint a lot more of them than pictured here this is just a smattering for flavor. Another "funny" thing (or not) as i was sorting through the bag to figure out what i wanted to use, it became apparent that this bag of figures were the cast offs of someone else putting together a "modern soviet" force. When I was finished with them I gave them to a friend who sorted through the cast off cast offs to put together his own "modern soviet" force. Now the cast off, cast off, cast offs or 3x++ refused figures are a sorry lot and if i used casualty figures instead of Star Grunt II skull chits they would be hammered into those.

buy the ticket take the ride.

Yet More...

Ok the last of the pics i took today. That natural sunlight really blasts the gama. first up QRF air assault FOW bailed german tank crews and QRF scifi civilians these were painted up in these colors to represent
Pilots- orange and red
and crew - yellow and blue
other colors are non technical civilians
Martian Metals

"stuff" i neglected to add to my "blog"

Yea so i've neglected to add a bunch of stuff i've painted, so here goes a shotgun approach to adding things. First up 15mmUK greys and automons I've made up rules for StarGrunt for the different Grey Units if you want them, just email and ask. Grey HQ

Grey Teleportation unit

Grey Mind Control unit

Grey Head Hunters

Automons

So yea that MACRO really shows some flaws that I totally miss -w- eyeball. Oh well such is life, they are done. The Automons were painted using the strictly washes over bare metal -w- red daubs for eyes.

"sovietesque" SMG platoon

GPT gave me some of his Command Decision Soviet extras so i painted them up to be a platoon of low tech militia or security forces or some such for StarGrunt, Metal Storm whatever. Note the non traditional uniform color. The spray can cap looked much more less red more brown sort of like the color the smg stocks are, but hey i wasn't about to strip them and start over. ... and now they are done, and that is what is important. Rebel Mini Spetnaz

Picked up some Rebel Mini 15mm's at Cold Wars. The red ops 5 battle box and a couple packs of spetnaz. I wanted the spetnaz to add support weapons to a 50 bag of OG guys -w- M16s and berets. The Spetz come 12 to a pack for $6.50 3 ea of 3 poses 2-w- AK's, 1 -w- RPK. Also 2 rocket launchers and a guy -w- a pistol, (i'll probably paint a red cross n his bag and make him a medic)
Since i'm planning on using these for Star Grunt 2 they are painted -w- a generic black uniform -w- a "urban cammo"smock and a red beret. The idea being the red beret guys are like the red shirts in Star Trek. Generic support troopers -w- no extra gear to help them survive such as body armor.
Over all i'm happy -w- them, a couple of the minis were poor casts but salvageable, the worst is pictured below separate from the group shot. They are a little tall, closer to 18 than 15mm as are the zombies however the special forces figures from the Red Ops 5 battle box look to be true 15mm's???
I noticed on the Rebel Minis site, http://www.rebelminis.com that the zombies are sculpted by Rodrick Campbell who also did the ATZ zombies that i also have and are 18mm. The 18mmish Spetz are credited to Tony Aldrich, but the 15mm Special Forces have no credit listed.
Whats the point of all this verbiage? None really, wanted to post the pics, thought it needed some sort of descriptive text to accompany same.
Would i buy more rebel minis? Sure why not, they are a little tall, but they are doing stuff no one else is, that i know of, and at a good price. AND AS ALWAYS click the image for a larger view.

so here are some werds. i need to update my list etc, have not done so due to massive building in prep for GPT visit which is now sadly over. During the "big push" i built
1 1 base "church" white building
2 2 story 4.5 base "industrial" buildings (mirror images of each other)
3 .5 base aka "team" base sheds
approx 20 trees
6 KO'd vehicle markers
-------------
2 grilles -w- crew
1 8.8cm puppchen AT option for my CO HQ
2 kubel wagens --------------------------- whew...
so my armored panzer grenadier company is mostly complete except decals, etc etc. however i am very close to having a complete 15/20mm "town".
in addition to those listed above i have previously built
3 3 story "row" haus
1 2 story mid east esque building
2 1 story 1 base houses
SO i feel i need...
1 factory
1 dorm 60mm x 100mm
combo set of similar
1 2 story store 60x60
2 2 story row haus 40x60
1 2 or 3 story administration building ( which i plan to make a sort of quadrangle -w- a 40x40 core -w- 40x40 quads -w- a 100 x 100 2nd and possibly 3rd level)
more trees and more explosions
so i've started 18 trees and 7 explosions

making a 223 out of a 222. The OG 222 pack comes -w- 3 222's, but an armored car patrol is 2x 222s and 1x 223. A 223 is the same chassis as a 222 but has an MG instead of the 20mm + MG, and an antenna. I think it has a different turret, but close enough for my purposes. Step one was easy glue a MG in the main gun spot. Step B manufacture an antenna, this was a little more difficult. Here we see it held together -w- superglue gel. i'll reinforce it -w- green stuff after it sets up. Here we are after being reinforced -w- Tamiya's version of green stuff. FiVE - 251's

The 251 in the CD305 - SDkfx 251/1,2,10 w/support weap.(3/pack) is different than the ones in the other packs. It has something extra on the rear passenger side seat. Possibly stowage. The stowage is not present in the other packs i received. However the FLASH is ! Being that i paid much less than the BattleFront $9 each i can live with the Flash. The pack CD305 - SDkfx 251/1,2,10 w/support weap.(3/pack) does not come with the front MG -w- shield so it really shouldn't be used for a a 251/1 Even though the pack says it can be. Of course if you could always put the HT crew MG gunner figure in there. There is also a big chunk of flash on the passenger side lower back panel that takes quite a bit of filing to flatten out. -but i did not get a good pic of it, unprimed lead doesn't always photograph well.

----- - Meeting Engagement/ a Motostrelkovy Battalion meets a Aufklarungs Company.

here are some pics from a meeting engagement Brian and i fought sunday. All the models are Brian's. A Meeting Engagement where a Motostrelkovy Battalion meets a Aufklarungs Company.
Scenario type Encounter An AAR composed by Brian follows the images. click the pics for a larger image After setting up the table, Chuk chose to attack from the side opposite the large bluff (we'll all that West) and Brian was to attack from the East. The objectives on Chuk's side of the table were on the roads leading off the west edge while the objectives on the Soviet side were atop the bluff and near the woodline behind the village. Since each force had an armored car platoon and it was an encounter scenario, we agreed that each player had to have their armored cars as part of their starting forces. Chuk deployed his Aufklarungs platoon (minus a few teams for the 2iC's kampfgruppe but reinforced with 2 HMGs from the heavy platoon) guarding the objective and ford in the southwest while the PanzerIIIL platoon and the armored cars deployed northwest of town. The Soviets deployed the BA-64 platoon covering the whole southern half of the table and massed the platoon of Lees at the ford with the infantry to their left ready to move up through town. In the opening phases of the game, The Panzers and Lees began to duel in the north while the soviet infantry pushed up the middle and the BA-64's played hide and seek. The ford, combined with Hen and Chicks, served to limit the number of Lees that could be brought to fire on the panzers, but did keep them busy and away from the infantry. The PTRD equipped BA-64 gave a very good account of itself early bailing out one SdKfz 231 and then later destroying the other. The infantry reached the edge of town despite the intervention of the Luftwaffe and destroyed the bailed armored car in an assault. Despite the loss of Lee or two at this point, the Soviet attack was putting pressure on the Germans. However, it was soon the Germans who were putting the pressure on the Soviets. German reinforcements poured onto the southern half of the table, an area still guarded by only the armored car platoon (now reduced to 2 BA-64). This included the armored pioneer platoon, which was fortunately slowed in their advance by having to cross the ford in the stream. The Soviet Zis-3 battery arrived in the far north corner of the map, too far away to influence the battle. The Lees were forced to attempt to disengage and move south and the infantry were thrown into assaults against the panzer in town hoping to drive them off and create some space. However, the were unable to destroy the tanks or force a withdrawl and lost heavily. Once the Lees had disengaged, the Panzers turned their guns on the beleagered infantry company and soon forced a morale test, which was failed, despite the exhortations of both the battalion commander and battlaion komissar. The company broke and ran leaving the town empty and taking the battalion commander with them. The BA-64's were fired on by MG's from the pioneer halftrack and both were bailed out, afterwhich the "fearless" crews abandoned their vehicles and fled. With still no more reserves, the Soviet position was rapidly eroding. The pioneers were advancing up the hill despite sporadic artillery fire from the Zis-3s and the Panzers were able to advance through town and engage the Lees. Another Lee was destroyed and another morale test failed. The Soviets were now forced to take a battalion morale test and failed automatically. The Germans won with only the loss of the armored car platoon - a major victory (5-2).

CDGI-06 Light Mortars (44-45)
CDEG-05 Early German HMG's
So that i could field other unit types.

CDGI-02 Riflemen (44-45) pack#1
To get more SMGs for CO stands.
CD303 Pz111 L or J (3 / pack)
So i field a full unit of PIIIs if i wanted to.
